Détour Noir
Al Haramain PerfumesEDP
“Apple, lavender, and spiced vanilla with a darker edge — the Layton clone the whole community rallied behind, for around twenty bucks.”
Ask a room full of fragrance people for the Layton clone and this is the name that comes up first. Detour Noir opens on the same crisp apple and lavender, runs through a violet-and-jasmine heart, and lands on warm vanilla, cardamom, and guaiac — the Layton arc start to finish, with a slightly smokier, darker tilt in the base. It's the most-recommended budget Layton, and it earns it.
It throws hard and lasts all day, and at $15–$35 it's the cheapest genuinely-close option here. The one catch is Al Haramain's confusing Detour lineup — Noir, Rouge, Exclusif, Intense — so make sure the label says Détour Noir. If Layton is the goal and budget is the constraint, start here.
